Using Hibernate mode

The state of the system is saved on the hard disk and power is turned off. The power indicator light is off in this mode.

To activate Hibernate mode, proceed as follows:

1Go to Start and click Turn Off Computer.

2Hold down the <Shift> key and press Hibernate.

To return to Normal mode, press the power button. The computer returns to its previous state.

If you press the power button for longer than 4 seconds, the computer will turn off. When the computer is in Hibernate mode, you cannot insert a disc.

Hibernate mode requires more time than Standby mode. Hibernate mode uses less power than Standby mode.

Entering Hibernate mode with the <Fn> key

You can choose to use the shortcuts <Fn>+<Esc>, or <Fn>+<F12> to enter Hibernate mode instead of Standby mode.

To change the default settings, proceed as follows:

1Go to Control Panel > Power Options.

2Select the Advanced tab.

3Make your settings under Power buttons.
