To return to Normal mode, proceed as follows:

Press any key.

If you press the power button for more than four seconds, the computer will switch off automatically.

 

When the computer is in Standby mode, you cannot insert a disc.

 

 

 

 

Standby requires less time than Hibernate.

 

Sony

Standby uses more power than Hibernate.

 

If you work with your computer without AC power for 25 minutes, it will enter System Standby mode. As a

 

 

result, if you are using the CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive, the operation will be interrupted. To avoid this, you can

 

change the settings either in PowerPanel (right-click on the PowerPanel icon and select Edit/Create

 

Profile) or in the Control Panel. Please note that your Control Panel settings are valid only until the next

 

reboot.

 

Using Hibernate mode

The state of the system is saved on the hard disk and power is turned off. The power indicator light is off in this mode.

To activate Hibernate mode, proceed as follows:

Press <Fn>+<F12>.

The Hibernating screen appears and the notebooks enters Hibernate mode.

Alternatively,

Click Start, and then Turn Off Computer.

In the Turn off computer screen, hold down the <Shift>-key and press Hibernate.

To return to Normal mode, proceed as follows:

Turn on the computer by pressing the power button.

The computer returns to its previous state.
