Selecting the component
1 Press input buttons to select the input.

2 Turn on the component and start playback.
Note
If you select the VCR or DVD player, set the TV’s video input to match the component you selected.
3 Turn MASTER VOLUME –/+ to adjust the volume.
Note
To avoid damaging your speakers, make sure that you turn down the volume before you turn off the receiver.
To mute the sound
Press MUTING on the remote.
The muting function will be canceled when you do the following.
•Press MUTING on the remote again.
•Turn the power off.
•Increase the volume.
To use the headphones
Connect the headphones to the PHONES jack. When the headphones are connected, speaker output is automatically canceled and “SP A” and “SP B” do not light up in the display.
Listening to multi channel sound
— MULTI CH IN
You can select the audio directly from the components connected to the MULTI CH IN jacks. This enables you to enjoy high quality analog inputs such as DVD or Super Audio CD. When MULTI CH IN is selected, the tone and sound field cannot be used.
Press MULTI CH IN.
Press again to cancel the MULTI CH IN function.
When MULTI CHANNEL DECODING indicator lights up
The MULTI CHANNEL DECODING indicator lights up when the receiver is decoding multi channel sources.
However, this indicator does not light up if you select 2CH STEREO mode.
