Communicating without Access Point (ad-hoc)

An ad-hoc network is a network in which a local network is created only by the wireless devices themselves, with no other central controller or Access Point. Each device communicates directly with other devices in the network. You can set up an ad-hoc network easily at home.

To communicate without Access Point (ad-hoc), proceed as follows:

1Turn on the Wireless (on models with the Bluetooth functionality*) or Wireless LAN (on models without the Bluetooth functionality) switch.

On models with the Bluetooth functionality, the Wireless Device Switch dialog box appears.

Select the Enable 2.4 GHz Wireless LAN check box and deselect the Enable Bluetooth Device check box, then click the OK button.

2Double-click the network icon on the taskbar displaying Wireless Network Connection. The Wireless Network Connection dialog box appears.

3Click the Change advanced settings button.

The Wireless Network Connection Properties dialog box appears.

4Select the Wireless Networks tab.

5Click the Add… button.

The Wireless network properties dialog box appears.
