Notes on presetting camcorders

The [USB SPEED] setting on Handycam® (HDD/Memory Stick) must be set to [AUTO]. ([AUTO] is the default setting.)

The [A/V t DV OUT] setting on Handycam® (DV/D8) must be set to [OFF]. ([OFF] is the default setting.)

When dubbing the 16:9 pictures (pictures shot with the camcorder’s setting set to 16:9) via the DV IN, VIDEO IN, or S VIDEO IN jack on the DVDirect, set the TV type setting on the camcorder to 4:3.

If you erase or edit a video on a Handycam® with a computer or Playstation 3®, it is not possible to dub videos properly by connecting the Handycam® to the DVDirect. Erase or edit video using the Handycam®.

Notes on time required for recording

When recording from Handycam® (HDD/Memory Stick or DVD) connected via USB cable, the length of time required depends on the REC mode (XP, HQ, SP, or LP) used to shoot the video and the number of scenes the Handycam® contains. In general, videos shot in higher image quality modes take longer to be recorded onto a disc. The following provides a general estimate of the time required to record a 1-hour video containing one scene onto a disc.
