White Balance Adjustment

By correctly setting the white balance, you can get a picture with natural tones even under unusual light and color temperature conditions. This camera lets you set the white balance both automatically and manually.

Automatic adjustment

1 Shoot a white object (such as a white cloth or white wall)so that it fills the monitor screen.

2 Press the AWB button on the rear panel.

(While the menu is not displayed, the adjustment can be made by pressing the DATA UP/WHITE button on the side panel.)

The white balance is then adjusted automatically so that the object appears white on the screen. The adjustment is stored in the camera’s memory, and is retained even when the power is turned off. The next time you shoot under the same conditions, set the WHT BAL setting to AUTO to use the same white balance adjustment.

The messages displayed after the AWB button is pressed are as given on the following page.

Manual adjustment

White balance can be set manually using the WHT BAL item of the menu.

For details, see page 44.
