Using LEDs to Identify the State ofDevices

The Sun Fire T1000 server provides the following groupsof LEDs:

Front and rear panel LEDS (FIGURE2-2,FIGURE 2-3, and TABLE 2-2)
Power supply LEDs (FIGURE2-3 andTABLE 2-3)

These LEDs provide a quick visual check of the state of the system.

13. Replace faulty
FRU.
The FRUsrequire that you shut down the server to
perform a cold-swap.
After replacingthe faultyFRU, go to Action 14.

14. Verifythe repair. Variouscommands and utilities can be used to
verify the functionality of the system components.
Twouseful commands are:
• The ALOM showfaults command
• The ASR showcomponents command
Ifthe FRU isblacklisted, you can manually remove
it fromthe blacklist with the enablecomponent
command.
If the fault is cleared,and the componentis not
blacklisted, the repair is verifiedwell enough to
boot the server.For added assurance, you can run
the SunVTS diagnostic software.

Themajority of hardware faults are detected by the
server’s diagnostics. In rare cases it is possible that
a problem requiresadditional troubleshooting. If
you are unable to determine the cause of the
problem,contact Sun for support.
