To clean the filter (fig. 5)

The removable filter is made of a fabric that holds the particles of scale and prevents them from falling into your cup when pouring. This filter does not treat or remove the scale from the water. It thus preserves all the qualities of the water. With very hard water, the filter saturates very quickly (10 to 15 uses). It is important to clean it regularly. If it is wet, run it under the water, and if it is dry, brush it gently. Sometimes the scale does not come off easily: you need to carry out a descaling process.

Descaling

Descale regularly, preferably at least once a month, more often if your water is very hard.

To descale your kettle:

Use white vinegar which can be bought from hard-ware stores.

-fill the kettle with 1/2 L vinegar

-leave for one hour, cold.

Commercial descaler specifically for kettles. Follow the instructions on the packet.

Empty your kettle and rinse it 5 or 6 times. Repeat if necessary

To descale your filter:

• Soak the filter in white vinegar or diluted citric acid.

Never use another method of descaling than the one recommended in this guide.

In case of a problem

The water has a plastic taste:

If your kettle has fallen, if it is leaking, or if the power cord, plug or base are visibly damaged

Return your kettle to the nearest TEFAL After-sales Service Centre, the only organisation with authorisation to carry out repairs.

See the guarantee terms and list of centres in the booklet that came with your kettle. The type and serial number are indicated on the bottom of your kettle. ￿TEFAL reserves the right to modify the characteristics or components of its kettles at any time in the interests of the consumer.

￿Do not use the kettle. No attempt should be made to dismantle the appliance or safety devices.

￿If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its after sales service or any person with similar qualifications, in order to avoid all danger.

Preventing domestic accidents

For a child, even a slight burn can sometimes be serious.

As they grow, teach your children to pay attention to the hot liquids that can be found in a kitchen. Put the kettle and cord well towards the back of the work surface, out of the reach of children.

If an accident happens, place cold water immediately on the burn and call a doctor

if necessary.

To avoid injury: do not carry your child or your baby when you are drinking or carrying a hot beverage.
