System indicator panel

The CD/DVD indicator light glows green when a CD or

DVD is playing.

If you have set a password for logging onto your system, your

computer will start up and you will need to log on before being

able to play a CD or DVD.

The audio digital light glows green when audio digital files

are playing.

The AC pow er li ght glows green when the computer is

connected to an external power source.

The on/off light glows green when the computer is on. The

light flashes amber when the computer is in Standby mode.

The main battery light indicates the main battery’s current

charge. It glows green when the battery is fully charged. It

glows amber while the battery is being charged. It does not

glow if the external power source is disconnected or if the

battery is completely discharged. For more information on

determining remaining battery power, see “Monitoring

battery power” on page 118.

The hard disk drive light flashes while the hard disk drive is

being accessed.

The AC adapter and power cable work correctly, but the battery will not charge. The battery appears not to power the computer for as long as it usually does. Disk drive problems Error-checking Your hard disk seems very slow. Your data files are damaged or corrupted. Some programs run correctly but others do not. A diskette will not go into the external diskette drive. DVD-ROM or multi-function drive problems You cannot access a disc in the drive. You press the disc eject button, but the drive tray does not slide out. Some discs run correctly, but others do not. Slow playback performance.
