Troubleshooting

Q1: After connecting the TEG-160WS/TEG-240WS to a power outlet, the LEDs do not turn on.

A1: Check the connection of the power cord to the TEG-160WS/TEG-240WS and the power outlet. Also check that the power outlet is receiving power.

Q2: After installing the Web-Management Utility, I clicked Discovery and the Utility is unable to

discover the TEG-160WS/TEG-240WS. What should I do?

A2: Make sure that the TEG-160WS/TEG-240WS is powered on and that all connections are secure. Also check that your computer's IP Address is on the same network segment as the TEG-160WS/TEG-240WS. The default IP Address of the Switch is 192.168.0.1 and the default password is admin.

Q3: When I access the TEG-160WS/TEG-240WS using a web browser, I get a screen that tells me “only one user can login”. What should I do?

A3: Another computer is configuring the TEG-160WS/TEG-240WS. Please wait until the user logs off. If the other user has already logged off and you still get the same screen, then disconnect the power cord from the TEG-160WS/TEG-240WS, wait for 5 seconds, reconnect the power cord to theTEG-160WS/TEG-240WS, allow 5 seconds for the Switch to power on, and then attempt to access the web configuration page to login.

Q4: I forgot the administration password. How do I reset my TEG-160WS/TEG-240WS?

A4: Press on the reset button using a pen or paperclip for 10 seconds. The default password is admin.

Q5: When I connect a computer to the Switch's gigabit port, the LINK/ACT LED turns on, but the 100Mbps LED remains off.

A5: When the 1000Mbps LED remains off, the computer's connection speed is 10Mbps or 100Mbps (if the 100Mbps LED is on). Make sure that you have a Gigabit Ethernet adapter installed. Also make sure to use a CAT-5e or CAT- 6 Ethernet cable.

If you still encounter problems or have any questions regarding the TEG-160WS/TEG-240WS, please refer to the User's Guide included on the Utility CD-ROM or contact TRENDnet's Technical Support Department.

TEG-160WS specifications

The TRENDnet TEG-160WS and TEG-240WS are advanced managed Ethernet switches designed to cater to the demands of modern networks. Specifically engineered for businesses and organizations striving for reliability and performance, these switches offer robust features that enhance network management and operational efficiency.

Starting with the TEG-160WS, this model features 16 Gigabit Ethernet ports that support a variety of connection types, ensuring high-speed data transfer. One of its key elements is the layer 2 managed capabilities, allowing administrators to optimize traffic and enforce security policies. With features like VLAN support, network segmentation becomes effortless, minimizing broadcast traffic and improving overall bandwidth performance.

On the other hand, the TEG-240WS boasts 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports, catering to larger enterprises or environments with higher connectivity needs. This model extends its functionality with advanced management features, such as SNMP support, which allows for proactive monitoring and troubleshooting of network issues. Both switches incorporate IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging, offering flexibility in network segmentation to enhance security and improve traffic management.

A notable characteristic of these switches is their support for Power over Ethernet (PoE), an essential technology that simplifies device deployment. With PoE capabilities, network devices, such as IP cameras, phones, and wireless access points, can be powered directly through the Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for additional power outlets and ensuring a more organized workspace.

In terms of performance, both models support a switching capacity that efficiently handles high data loads, ensuring minimal latency and jitter. They feature a fanless design, which not only allows for silent operation but also promotes energy efficiency, making them ideal for office environments.

Moreover, the built-in security features, including access control lists (ACLs) and port security, help protect against unauthorized access and potential threats, safeguarding sensitive information and maintaining network integrity.

The TRENDnet TEG-160WS and TEG-240WS embody a fusion of performance, reliability, and advanced networking technologies tailored to meet the evolving needs of modern businesses, making them excellent choices for those looking to enhance their network infrastructure.
