3. Cleanaround the oil dipstick or oil fill
tube (whichever applies) to prevent dirt
from falling into the crankcase.
4. Onengines with anoil fill tube, remove
thefill capand add oil (if required) until it
reachesthetop of the fill tube. Reinstallthe
fill cap.
5. Onengines with a dipstick, remove it
andwipe it clean. Reinsertthe dipstick,
tighten it securely,and remove it. Add oil
asneededto bring the levelup to theFULL
mark.Wipe dipstick cleaneach time oil
levelis checked. Do not overfill. Tighten
dipstick securely.
B.To Changethe EngineOil:
Changetheengine oil as instructed in the
EngineOwner's Manual.
SPARKPLUGSERVICE
Inspectand cleanor replacethe spark plug
afterevery 100 operating hours or annual-
ly.Refer to the Engine Owner'sManual for
sparkplug serviceinstructions.
Insome areas, local law requires using re-
sistorspark plugs to suppress ignition sig-
nals.If the engine was originally equipped
with a resistor spark plug, usethe same
type for replacement.
SPARKARRESTERSCREENSERVICE
Ifthe engine muffler is equipped with a
sparkarrester screen, removeand clean it
accordingto the service intervals and in-
structions in the EngineOwner's Manual.
THROTTLELEVERADJUSTMENT
Ifthe engine does not respond to various
throttle lever settings, refer to the Engine
Owner'sManual for serviceinformation or
contactyour localauthorized engine deal-
er.

for best operating speed. Referto the En-
gineOwner's Manual for any adjustment

dealer.
Thegovernor controls the maximum safe
operatingspeed and protects the engine
andall moving partsfrom damagecaused
byoverspeeding. Do not tamper with the
enginegovernor settings.
OFF-SEASONSTORAGE
Whenthe tiller won't be used for an ex-
tendedperiod, prepareit for storageas fol-
lows:
1. Cleanthe tiller and engine.
2. Do routine tiller lubrication and check
for loose parts and hardware.
3. Protect the engine and perform recom-
mendedengine maintenanceby following
thestorage instructions found in the En-
gineOwner's Manual. Besure to protect
thefuel lines, carburetor and fuel tank
from gum deposits by removing fuel or by
treatingfuel with a fuel stabilizer (follow
enginemanufacturer'srecommendations).
4. Store unit in aclean, dry area.
5. Neverstore the tiller with fuel inthe fuel
tankin an enclosed areawhere gas fumes
couldreach an open flame or spark, or
whereignition sourcesare present (space
heaters,hot water heaters, furnaces, etc.).
