4.Checkfor correcttension onthe forward
drivebelt by taking two measurementsof
thecable spring, as follows:
a.With the ForwardClutch Bail (Y,Fig. 2-
6)in an open (released) position, measure
thelength ofthe cable spring (W) from the
outermost coil to the outermost coil.
b.SqueezetheForward Clutch Bailagainst
the handlebar(see Fig. 2-7) andre-mea-
surethe spring length. The belt tension is
correctif this second measurementis be-
tween 1/16"to 3/16" longer than the first
measurement. If so, turnthe hex nut (Z,
Fig.2-7) tightly against the cable adjuster
(X)while preventingthe cable adjuster
from turning.
c. If the spring lengthis incorrect, you
mustadjust the cabletension as described
in CheckingandAdjusting Forward Drive
Belt TensioninSection 5. Incorrect cable
tension can result in belt slippage (cable
tension too loose),or unintentionaltine
movementwhen the clutch bail is in Neu-
tral (cabletensiontoo tight).

STEP5: INSTALL REVERSECLUTCH
CABLE(MODEL 634A ONLY)
1. Unwrapthe reverse clutch cable (CC,
Fig.2-8 and Fig. 2-9) from its shipping po-
sition and route it up to the handlebar. Be
surethat the cable is routed beneaththe
ForwardClutch Bail.
2.Insert thecable(CC,Fig. 2-8)through the
slotin thecable bracketandposition the flat
sideof the threadedassemblynext to the
flatside of the hole.Slidethe hex nut (DD)
upthe cable andtighten it securely.
3. Fastenthe reverseclutch cable to the
leftside handlebarwith acabletie (EE,Fig.
2-9).
4.Testthe function ofthe reverseclutch by
pulling out and releasingthe cable knob.
Theknob should return to its neutral posi-
