About answering system and voicemail
Your telephone has separate indicators for two d ifferent types of voice messages:
those left on the built-in answer ing system and those left at your telephone ser vice
provider’s voicemail. Each alert s you to new messages differently.
If on the telephone base ashes, an d XX new messages displays on the
cordless handset and the telep hone base, there are new messages in the built-
in answering system. It can record up to 59 me ssages, depending on the length
of each message. Each message can b e up to three minutes in length. The total
recording time is approximately 14 minutes.
If and New voicemail display on th e screens, your telephone service
provider is indicating that it has n ew voicemail for you. Contact your telephone
service provider for more info rmation on how to access your voicemail.
Answering system settings
Default settings are indicated by a sterisks (*).

Call screening Set whether you hear the callers on the base
while they are leaving messages to you.

Set number of rings

You can set the answering system to answer an incoming call af ter two, three,
four, ve or six rings; or toll saver. If you choose toll saver, the answering system
answers a call after two rings whe n you have new messages, or after four rings
when you have no new messages.
Press MENU on the handset when t he phone is not in use.
Scroll to Answering sys and then press SELEC T.
Scroll to Ans sys setup and then press SELEC T.
Scroll to # of rings and then press SELECT.
Press or to choo se 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 or Toll saver and then press SELECT.

Record your own announcement

You can use the preset announcement to answer call s, or replace it with your own
recorded announcement. T he announcement can be up to 90 second s in length.
Press MENU on the handset when t he phone is not in use.
Scroll to Answering Sys then press SELEC T twice.
The handset announces, “To play, press 2. To record, press 7.”
Then press 7 to record.
The handset announces, “Re cord after the tone. Press 5 when you are done.”
After the tone, speak towards the hands et microphone.
Press 5 when done.
Answering system operation

Turn the answering system on or off

The answering system must be turned on to answer a nd record messages.
Press MENU when the handset is n ot in use.
Scroll to Answering sys and then press SELEC T.
Scroll to Answer on/off and then pres s SELECT.
Press or to choose Answer: On or Answer: Off and then press SELECT.
