Using Originals

Usable Originals

Originals that match and of the following sizes can be used.

Use the Document Carrier for These Originals

Use the document carrier for the following types of originals:
zOriginals that have been perforated, creased, heavily curled, or have holes
zOriginals that are stapled together
zOriginals to which glue or adhesive tape has been stuck.

Precautions When Handling Originals

Observe the following precautions when handling originals:
zThe scanning area may become soiled if originals to which gl ue or adhesive tape
have been stuck, or originals on which corrective fluids have been used a re placed
in the copier. Take extreme caution when using glue that comes in a stick or spray
glue because black lines may appear on copies if the sca nning area becomes soiled.
zUse caution with originals that have been folded, wrinkled, perforated or had holes
punched in them. It may result in paper jams and tearing.
zWhen rolled originals are to be used, ensure that the diameter of the roll is 1.6"
(40 mm) or larger. Rolls with a diameter of less than 1.6" must be flattened on the
lead edge.
zWhen scanning thick originals, hold them lightly with your hand while being scanned.
