Battery Charging

TIP

9The generator DC rated voltage is 12V.

9Start the engine first, and then connect the gener- ator to the battery for charging.

9Before starting to charge the battery, make sure that the DC protector is turned on.

1.Start the engine.

2.Connect the red battery charger lead to the posi- tive (+) battery terminal.

3.Connect the black battery charger lead to the neg- ative (-) battery terminal.

4.Turn the economy control switch off to start battery charging.

NOTICE

9Be sure the economy control switch is turned off while charging the battery.

9Be sure to connect the red battery charger lead to the positive (+) battery terminal, and connect the black lead to the negative (-) battery termi- nal. Do not reverse these positions.

9Connect the battery charger leads to the bat- tery terminals securely so that they are not dis- connected due to engine vibration or other dis- turbances.

9Charge the battery in the correct procedure by following instructions in the owner’s manual for the battery.

9The DC protector turns off 2 automatically if current above the rated flows during battery charging.

To restart charging the battery, turn the DC pro- tector on by pressing its button to “ON” 1. If the DC protector turns off again, stop charging the battery immediately and consult a Yamaha dealer.
