1.2.2セルの範囲

AP は、複数の MU が含まれる、BSS(Basic Service Set) またはセルと呼ばれる 平均通信範囲を確立します。特定のセル内の MU は、そのセルの AP と関連 付けして通信を行います。各セルには、BSS_ID(Basic Service Set Identifier)

割り当てられます。IEEE 802.11 では、AP MAC アドレスが BSS_ID を表

します。MU はこの BSS_ID を使用して、関連付け対象の AP を認識します。 LAN AP を追加すると、1 つの環境内のセルが増え、この LAN は、同じ Net_IDまたはESS(Extended Service Set)を使用するRFネットワークとなります。

同じ Net_ID(ESS) を持つ AP が集まって、1 つの通信範囲が決まります。 MU Net_ID(ESS) を照合して AP を探し、見つかった AP と同期をとって 通信を確立します。このため、通信範囲内の MU は移動やローミングが可 能になります。MU は、セル間をローミングしながら AP を切り替えます。 この切り替えは、最高の信号強度と最低の MU の負荷分散に基づく、MU の位置における受信状態の分析と通信対象の AP の決定結果に応じて行わ れます。

使用可能な信号を発するアクセス・ポイントが見つからない場合、MU AP を探すためにスキャンを行います。MU AP を切り替えると、AP 関連付けテーブルを更新します。
