To Adjust

Open the clutch access window which is located on the right front of the clutch housing.

Insert a 0.098 to 0.12 inch (2.5 to 3.0 mm) feeler gauge between the release thrust bearing and the release levers. Adjust the clearance by adjusting the length of the clutch rod.

-Lengthen the rod if the clearance is wider than the specification.

-Shorten the rod if the clearance is less than the specification.

Depress the clutch pedal and check to make certain that the free travel at the tip of the pedal is 1.57 to 1.96 inches (40 to 50 mm).

With the clutch pedal fully depressed, confirm that there is adequate gap between the clutch rod and the safety start switch.

IMPORTANT: When adjusting the clutch pedal free travel, always use measuring devices rather than visually estimating distances.

ADJUSTING THE MICRO SWITCH HEIGHT

The PTO micro switch, located on the right fender aside the position control lever, is initially set so that the PTO will disengage when the 3-point hitch lower links are raised to approximately 23.6 to 26 inches. See Figure 44.

If your application requires the PTO to run with the lower links at a height above 23.6 to 26 inches, the micro switch position can be adjusted as follows:

Loosen the screws securing the micro switch mounting bracket. Refer to Figure 45.

Raise the switch slightly and recheck the position of the lower links when the PTO shuts off.

If necessary, repeat the above step until the PTO shut-off height of the lower links is adequate for your application. The switch can be adjusted so that the lower links can be raised to approxi- mately 35.8 inches before the PTO will be disengaged.

ADJUSTING WHEEL TREAD

When operating the tractor in the field, it is sometimes necessary to change the rear wheel tread to a narrower position to avoid plant rows, or to widen the tread to improve stability when operating on slopes. The rear wheel tread width can be adjusted to any of 6 different positions ranging from 46.4 to 58.6 inches by changing the position of the wheel disc relative to the rim mounting brackets and the rear axle.

IMPORTANT: The front wheel tread width cannot be adjusted. Attempting to do so will cause damage to the tractor. If removed, torque front wheel lug nuts to 57.2 - 66.5 ft. lbs.
