Hardware and software requirements

You must have the following hardware installed on your ThinkPad computer in order to use this option:

vAn available USB 2.0 port

Note: An additional USB 2.0 port may be necessary for configuration 2 on page 1-5.

Your computer must have one of the following operating systems installed to use this option:

vMicrosoft® Windows® XP

vMicrosoft Windows 2000 Professional (Service Pack 4 or later)

Note: The drive will not operate correctly unless Service Pack 4 or later is installed.

Power mode configurations

This section provides installation instructions for the following configurations:

vConfiguration 1: self power (AC adapter)

vConfiguration 2: USB standard bus power (READ ONLY)

vConfiguration 3: auxiliary USB power
