Easy

CD

Creator/DirectCD

CD

 

contains programs that work with

 

 

 

Windows

98,

Windows

2000,

and

Windows NT

Workstation

4.0. You

 

can

use

the

programs

 

with your CD-RW

 

drive

to

 

create

audio

and

data

CDs,

to

copy

CDs,

and

to

make

 

jewel

case

inserts

or

CD

labels.

This

manual

will

give

you

basic

instructions

on

using

 

the

software

so

that you

can

get

started

creating

CDs.

Additional

information

the

 

software

and

how

 

to

use

it

can

be

found

in

the

online user’s

guide

on

the

software

The

IBM

Option

Diskette

contains device drivers for Windows 98, Windows 95,

 

 

 

 

Windows

NT

4.0,

Windows

3.x,

OS/2,

and

DOS

that

enable

you

to

access

the

drive as

a CD-ROM drive

in

 

DOS

mode.

The

diskette

also

includes

an

audio

CD-player

 

 

program

for

DOS

and

 

a

diagnostic program.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Note:

 

The

software

included

in

this

option

kit

 

does not

enable

the

drive’s

 

 

 

CD-recording

capabilities with

DOS,

Windows

3.x,

or

OS/2

operating

systems.

Before you begin

Read the following information before you start your installation.

You must complete the following steps to install the drive:

1. Determine

which

IDE

port

to

use

and

the

corresponding configuration

setting.

2.

Place or

change

the

configuration

jumper

on

the

drive

(and

possibly

make

 

changes

to

 

the

configuration

jumpers

of

other devices).

 

 

 

 

3.

Install

the

drive in a drive bay.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4.

Configure

the

system.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5.

Install

a

 

device driver.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If

you

do

not

 

understand

these

procedures

or

are

unsure

about

your

ability

to perform

all

the

procedures

described,

have

a

qualified

 

computer

technician

install

the

CD-RW

drive

for
