Chapter 5. KeySafe II and MyKey in Non-Admin Mode

This chapter provides information on using the KeySafe II and MyKey applications in the non-administrator mode.

System requirements

vPentium II 266 MHz

v1.7MB free space

vOperating systems: Windows 2000 and Windows XP

Installation instructions

Follow the instructions below to install the service.

1.Log in as an administrator.

2.Unzip the SERVICE FOR NON-ADMIN.ZIP file (located on the CD that shipped with your Memory Key) to a directory that all users can access (for example, C:\DiskOnKey service, C:\Program files, C:\winnt\system32). Do not use folders that might be restricted to different users, such as the Desktop directory or My Documents directory.

3.Launch the install SERVICE.BAT file to install the service. Note: Only administrators can install services.

4.To check if the service has been installed correctly, go to Settings → Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Services, and look for the hdlSrv service.

Once the service is installed, the KeySafe II and MyKey applications can run both under administrator and non-administrator privileges.

Uninstalling the service

Follow the instructions below to uninstall the service.

vLog in as an administrator.

vLaunch the UNINSTALL SERVICE.BAT file (located on the CD that shipped with your key) to uninstall the service.
