Completing the Installation

3.Verify that a link exists by checking that the port RX (Receive) LED is ON (flashing amber, blinking green, or solid green). If the RX LED is OFF and the TX (Transmit) LED is not blinking amber, perform the following steps:

a.Verify that the device at the other end of the fiber optic segment is powered on and properly connected to the segment.

b.Ensure that the fiber optic connection meets the dB loss and cable specifications outlined in the Cabletron Systems Cabling Guide. Refer to the Related Manuals in the About This Guide preface for information on obtaining this document.

4.If a link is not established, refer to Chapter 4 before contacting Cabletron Systems. Refer to Section 1.1 for details.

5.Repeat steps 1 through 3 above, until all connections have been made.

3.5COMPLETING THE INSTALLATION

After installing the SmartSwitch and any optional HSIM or VHSIM, the module is now ready to be set up through Local Management. For information on the Local Management connection, configuring the 6C105 chassis and module, and using Network Tools, refer to the Local Management User’s Guide.
