Wireless Security Tips
The following are basic wireless security tips which will minimize the chance of a breach in your private wireless network:
1.Change the default SSID.
2.Disable SSID Broadcast.
3.Change the default password for the Administrator account.
4.Enable MAC Address Filtering.
5.Change the SSID periodically.
6.Use the highest encryption algorithm possible. Use WPA if it is available.
7.Change the WEP encryption keys periodically.
Don’t Be a Statistic
Wireless networks are easy to find. Statistics show that roughly half of all wireless networks have no security in place at all, i.e. they are open systems for anyone to freely use as they please. In fact, nearly 25% of the time, the default administrator username/password remain as system defaults! Leaving your wireless network open for the taking.
