address mask
A bit mask used to select bits from an IP address for subnet addressing. The mask is 32 bits long and selects the network portion of the IP address and one or more bits of the local portion.
agent
A software program housed within a managed network device, such as a host, gateway, or terminal server. An agent stores management data and responds to the manager's data requests.
ANSI
The American National Standards Institute sets standards for the US computer industry. ANSI participates in defining network protocol standards.
