Recording a source while listening to music or a movie

1.Select FM as the input.

2.Press the PTY/TP button. The current program type ap- pears on the display. “No RDS Data” will appear when no RDS signal is being received from the station.

3.Rotate the SMART SCAN CONTROLLER to select the pro- gram type (PTY), for example “ROCK M”.

Refer to the explanation of PTY on the previous page

4.Press the SMART SCAN CONTROLLER to start searching for stations of the desired program type.

If you press the SMART SCAN CONTROLLER button while “No RDS Data” is displayed, “PTY?” will appear. In this case, return to Step 3.

When a station of the desired program type is tuned in, scanning stops for approximately five seconds, then resumes.

5.When the desired station is located, press the SMART SCAN CONTROLLER again to stop scanning.

Searching for traffic information (TP scan)

1.Press the PTY/TP button twice to select “TP.”

“[TP]” appears when the current station is broadcasting TP sig- nals.

2.Press the SMART SCAN CONTROLLER to start searching for other TP stations.

When a station broadcasting traffic information is located, scan- ning stops. If “Not Found” appears on the display, a TP station cannot be located.

Displaying Radio Text (RT)

If the selected station is not broadcasting RT signals, this function cannot be used.

1.Each time you press the DISPLAY button, the displayed RDS information changes as shown at left.

If the current station you are listening to is not an RDS station, only the frequency appear.

When RT signals are received, it takes about 15 seconds for the Radio Text to appear on the display.

If “Waiting” appears on the display, more time is required to receive the RT information. When the information is received, the characters will scroll across the display.

If “No text data” appears on the display for 3 seconds, RT infor- mation is not available.

The display shows frequency for 3 seconds and returns to pro- gram service name.
