Installing a memory card

Note: Some memory options offered for other printers cannot be used with your printer. Refer to the publications CD for memory specifications.

Warning: Memory cards are easily damaged by static electricity. Touch something metal on the printer before you touch a card.

Connection points

Follow the instructions in this section to install a printer memory card. Memory cards must have 168-pin connectors.

1Remove the system board access cover (see page 20).

2Unpack the memory card.

Avoid touching the connection points along the edge of the card. Save the packaging.

3Push open the latches on both ends of the memory connector.

4Align the notches on the bottom of the card with the notches on the connector.

5Push the memory card firmly into the connector until the latches on either end of the connector snap into place.

It may require some force to fully seat the card.

6Make sure each latch fits over the notch on the end of the card.
