Selecting the Sound Effect

The DVD Receiver will automatically detect the sound system when DOLBY DIGITAL Surround ( ), DTS Surround (), or

D I G I T A L

PCM DIGITAL (2 channel digital stereo) is played back. The sound system appears in the DVD Receiver's display.

Lights up when PCM DIGITAL (2 channel digital stereo) sound is reproduced.

Lights up when DOLBY DIGITAL Surround sound is reproduced.

Lights up when DTS Surround sound is reproduced.

Changing the output sound signal format of the DVD video/audio CD

You can change the format of the sound signal being output via the speakers and output jacks using the menu (see page 40).

This means, for example, even if DOLBY DIGITAL Surround sound is played by the DVD Receiver, you can output sound to the speakers in the 48 kHz/16 bit format, which enables you to use the DSP sound effects below instead of DOLBY DIGITAL Surround.

Using Onkyo's original sound effects – DSP (Digital Signal Processor) selection

While playing back sources other than DOLBY DIGITAL and DTS Surround sounds, you can select the desired DSP mode.

Notes

When DOLBY DIGITAL Surround sound is reproduced, you can select only "DOLBY DIGITAL" or "STEREO."

When DTS Surround sound is reproduced, you can select only "DTS" or "STEREO."

When MPEG2 sound source is reproduced, no other but only “STEREO” can be selected.
