To increase the number of inputs, one can add a second switcher and loop outputs of the first switcher to the inputs of the second switcher. For example, to create a 12x4 MAX Switcher, route 4 outputs of first 8x4 switcher to the input of a second 8x4 switcher. So 8 inputs go into switcher 1 and inputs 9- 12 go into switcher 2, while outputs 1-4 are taken from the second switcher.
