View Modes

The Viewer automatically enters pass-through mode when going to full-screen view, unless the Viewer is in quad-screen view.

In the absence of menus and toolbars in full-screen view, the only way to exit full- screen view is to use hotkeys or mouse escape movements. Exiting pass-through mode causes the Viewer to exit full-screen view and return to windowed view. If the UltraLink disconnects while the Viewer is in full-screen mode, the Viewer returns to windowed view.

Color Modes

Color modes define how the UltraLink transmits video data to the Viewer. These modes balance color resolution against transmission speed. Color Modes are set on the View menu. The currently active color mode appears as a dot to the left on the View menu.

The following figure shows typical examples of how each mode looks and the table gives an approximation of the tradeoffs.

Figure 34 Color affects image quality

These characterizations are approximate; actual results depend on the nature of the screens. If the images are mostly solid colors, reducing the color quality will have little effect on the transmission speed. If the images contain gradients or complex graphics, the speed increase may be dramatic.
