1.7System memory

1.7.1 Overview

The motherboard comes with four 184-pin Double Data Rate (DDR) Dual Inline Memory Modules (DIMM) sockets.

The following figure illustrates the location of the sockets:

1.7.2 Memory Configurations

You may install 64MB, 128MB, 256 MB, 512 MB and 1 GB unbuffered ECC or non-ECC DDR DIMMs into the DIMM sockets using the memory configurations in this section.

Always install DIMMs with the same CAS latency. For optimum

compatibility, it is recommended that you obtain memory modules from the same vendor. Refer to the DDR400 Qualified Vendors List on Page 1-15 for details.

If you installed four 1 GB memory modules, the system may detect less than 3GB of total memory because of address space allocation for other critical functions. This limitation applies to Windows XP 32- bit version operating system since it does not support PAE(Physical Address Extension) mode.

If you install Windows XP 32-bit version operating system, we recommend that you install less than 3GB of total memory.

Due to CPU limitation, install on Channel B slots for a single-channel memory configuration.
