Installing the Switch on a Flat Surface

The switch ships with four self-adhesive rubber footpads. Attach one rubber foot pad into each of the four concave depressions on the base of the switch.

Note: These footpads cushion the switch against shock and vibration. They also provide for ventilation space between stacked switches.

Installing the Switch in a Rack

To install the switch in a rack, use the 19-inch rack-mount kit (supplied with your switch) with the following procedure (refer to Figure 4-1, “ Mounting the Switch in a Rack”):

1.Attach the supplied mounting brackets to the side of the switch using the screws provided in the rack-mount kit.

2.Tighten the screws with a #1 Phillips screwdriver to secure each bracket.

3.Orient the switch to align the unused mounting holes in the brackets with appropriate holes in the rack.
