1.5.1. Minimum Network and Workstation Requirements
To successfully use the 5big Storage Server, your network must meet the following requirements:

Server connection | 100 Mbps Ethernet wired connection. LaCie highly recommends using |
| 1 Gb/s for better performance. |

|
Router/Firewall device | A switch with wired Ethernet connectivity for the workstations to |
| communicate with the 5big Storage Server. LaCie highly recommends |
| using 1 Gb/s for better performance. |
|
|
IP address | The 5big Storage Server assumes that network devices receive their |
| IP addresses from a DHCP server. For a static IP configuration, see |

|
|
Internet access | The 5big Storage Server must have access to the Internet for critical |
| updates to Windows Storage Server 2008. |
|
