Manually Configuring im240 Wireless Modem

On Some Tablet PCs it has been noted that the im240 fails to install successfully. The Windows "Found New Hardware Wizard" will report an error message "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". This is due to the OS not being able to assign the IRQ to the modem. Due to this the Dashboard installation program will not be able to finish the modem installation properly. If you get the above error message follow the steps below to resolve this issue without exiting from the Dashboard installation.

1Click Start >Control Panel and double click System.

Note: If Control Panel is not found in the Start menu, click Start >Settings >Control Panel

2Click Hardware Tab and then click Device Manager.

3Locate the "Motorola im240 PC Card modem" and double click to view the properties.

4Click on the Resources Tab.

5Click on the "Set Configuration Manually" button.

6Uncheck “Use automatic settings" check box.

7Change Setting based on to "Basic configuration 0001".

8In Resource settings, select IRQ.

9Click on the "Change Setting" button to open the "Edit Interrupt Request" dialog box.

10Select an IRQ which will not conflict with any other device. This can be verified in the Conflict information status box. If it says No devices are conflicting then that IRQ can be selected.

11Click OK to close the "Edit Interrupt Request" dialog box.

12Click OK to close the "Motorola im240 PC Card Modem Properties" dialog box.

13Click Yes to confirm the manual resource settings.

14The Modem should now be installed properly.

After following the steps above continue with the Dashboard installation.
