Error Messages
If the message is not listed, see the documentation for the operating system or the program that was running when the message appeared.
A U X I L I A R Y D E V I C E F A I L U R E — The touch pad or external mouse may be faulty. For an external mouse, check the cable connection. Enable the Pointing Device option in the system
setup program. See your Service Manual at support.dell.com for more information. If the problem persists, contact Dell (see "Contacting Dell" on page 69).
C A C H E D I S A B L E D D U E T O F A I L U R E — The primary cache internal to the microprocessor has failed. Contact Dell (see "Contacting Dell" on page 69).
O P T I C A L D R I V E C O N T R O L L E R F A I L U R E —
The optical drive does not respond to commands from the computer.
D A T A E R R O R — The hard drive cannot read the data.
D E C R E A S I N G A V A I L A B L E M E M O R Y — One
or more memory modules may be faulty or improperly seated. Reinstall the memory modules and, if necessary, replace them. See your Service Manual at support.dell.com for more information.
