Making a voice call manually

Press MONITOR or lift the handset.

To redial the last number

1.Press MONITOR or lift the handset.

2.Press REDIAL/PAUSE .

If the line is busy when using the MONITOR button, the unit will automatically redial the number up to 14 times.

While waiting for redial, the following will be displayed.

Muting your voice to the other party

1.Press HANDSET MUTE during a telephone conversation with the handset.

Display:

The other party cannot hear you, but you can hear them.

2.To resume the conversation, press

HANDSET MUTE .

Caller ID capacity (KX-FT34 only)

This unit is compatible with a Caller ID service offered by your local telephone company. To use this feature, you must subscribe to a Caller ID service.

Caller ID allows you to view the name or telephone number of the caller before you answer the phone. The calling party information (name has priority) will be displayed after the first ring.

By using Caller ID, you have the option of whether or not to answer the call depending on the caller.

The unit also keeps the caller’s information and prints a list automatically after every 20 calls.

To set this feature, see page 66.

To print out the caller list manually, see page 65.

When a second call is received by call waiting service, the Caller ID information will not be displayed or stored in the caller list.

Important:

When you subscribe to a Caller ID service, set the ring count setting to 2 or more rings (FAX mode ring count – p. 41, TEL/FAX mode ring count – p. 44).
