On Macs that do not have built-in serial ports (ie 'Blue and White' G3s, iMacs, iBooks, G4s, etc...), Port 1 can emulate the PRINTER port (as found on older Macintosh computers) for serial devices that are not CommToolBox Savvy and can't access the "P#1UPSH112xx" port. Printer Port emulation can turned ON by using the Keyspan Serial Assistant's Advanced Setting's screen. Once you've emulated the Printer port, Port 1 will be accessible by selecting the 'PRINTER' port icon or 'Printer Port USB' port name in your serial device's software. Printer port emulation is turned OFF by default.

Note: If you install more than one Keyspan Mini Port Replicators on your Mac, Port 1 on subsequent adapters will have different names (please contact Keyspan for details).

The DB25 printer port on the Mini Port Replicator is seen a 'USB Printer Class Device.' Certain printers (such as Epson) support 'USB Printer Class Devices' so that you can connect a parallel printer to a Mac Please check with Keyspan for details.
