2.Connect the USB cable to the USB port on the back of the computer.

NOTE: If you unplug the scanner’s power to turn it off, you must also disconnect the USB cable from the computer. To resume use of the scanner, reconnect the power cord, and then the USB cable.

Problem:

IRQ steering is disabled. For USB to function properly, IRQ steering must be enabled.

Solution:

The IRQ steering setting is located in the Device Manager. Follow the steps below to find out if the IRQ steering is enabled:

1.Click on the My Computer icon using the right mouse button. A pop-up menu appears.

2.Click on Properties command using the left mouse button. This brings up the Device Manager.

3.In the Device Manager click the + symbol beside the System Devices item.

4.Double-click the PCI Bus to display the PCI Bus Properties.

5.Click on the tab labeled IRQ steering.

6.The bottom half of this tab displays the IRQ Routing Status. Look for the following items:

IRQ Routing enabled

IRQ read from (where it is read from)

IRQ Mini-port loaded successfully

IRQ Mini-port data processed successfully

If you see these items as listed above, IRQ steering is enabled. If you do not see the information, contact your computer manufacturer. USB will not function properly without IRQ steering.
