Reinstalling Software Using the MacBook Air SuperDrive

To install Mac OS X and the applications that came with your MacBook Air, using a MacBook Air SuperDrive:

1Connect the MacBook Air SuperDrive to your MacBook Air and insert the Mac OS X Install DVD to install Mac OS X or the Applications Install DVD to install the bundled applications.

2To install Mac OS X, double-click Install Mac OS X. To install applications, double-click Install Bundled Software.

3Follow the onscreen instructions, selecting your MacBook Air as the destination volume for installation.

Note: To restore Mac OS X on your computer to the original factory settings, click Options in the “Select a Destination” pane of the Installer, and then select “Erase and Install.”

To reset your password, using a MacBook Air SuperDrive:

1Connect the MacBook Air SuperDrive to your MacBook Air and insert the Mac OS X Install DVD.

2Restart your MacBook Air and hold down the C key as it starts up.

3Choose Utilities > Reset Password from the menu bar. Follow the onscreen instructions.

To use Disk Utility from a MacBook Air SuperDrive:

1Connect the MacBook Air SuperDrive to your MacBook Air and insert the Mac OS X Install DVD.

2Restart your MacBook Air and hold down the C key as it starts up.
