Questions and Answers

A

Also, check that your PC and the WVC2300 camera have compatible wireless settings.

-SSID must match.

-Wireless security settings must match.

Q.My video quality suddenly deteriorated.

This can happen when an additional viewer connects to the camera, overloading the camera or the available bandwidth. The image size and quality can be adjusted to cater for the required number of viewers and the available bandwidth.

Q.The motion detection feature doesn't send me any e-mails.

It may be that the SMTP (Simple Mail Transport Protocol) server used by the camera to send the e-mail will not accept mail. This is to prevent Spam being sent from the server. Try using a different SMTP server or contact your ISP to see if SMTP access is being blocked.

You must use a static IP address (you can copy the DHCP Address), but the DNS server must be that of the ISP and not of the router. You can find this address in the router's status log for WAN IP Address.

NOTE The secondary SMTP server is used if the camera cannot connect to the primary server. Only one SMTP server is used, even if both the primary and secondary SMTP servers are enabled.

Q.When using the motion detection feature, I receive e-mails that don't show any moving objects.

The motion detection feature doesn't actually detect motion. It compares frames to see if they are different. Major differences between frames are assumed to be caused by moving objects.

But the motion detector can also be triggered by sudden changes in the level of available light or movement of the camera. For example, twilight, dusk, and dawn, can cause false positive detections. Motion detection should not be used if the camera is outdoors because of the possibility of false positives. The motion detection feature works best in locations where there is good steady illumination and the camera is mounted securely.
