6.2.3.B Attaching a KVM Switch with Single Composite User-Port Connectors

If the KVM switch’s user ports are ServSwitch style DB25 connectors, run a ServSwitch to ServSwitch Expansion Cable (product code EHN284) from one of these connectors to the Local Unit’s DB25 female CPU-port KVM connector, as shown in Figure 6-3.

connector to the Local Unit’s CPU port.

If the KVM switch’s user ports are some other type of composite connectors (as is

the case for the ServSwitch Multi), first plug a User Cable designed for the KVM switch (see Section 4.2.2.C for ServSwitch Multi cable product codes) into one of the switch’s user ports. Then plug the Extender’s included three-to-one KVM- extension cable into the Local Unit’s DB25 female CPU-port KVM connector.

If your Local Unit is a KVM/Serial/Audio model and you want to do serial extension, also plug the male end of the included DB9 male-to-female serial- extension cable into the Local Unit’s matching DB9 female CPU-port serial connector.

If your Local Unit is a KVM/Serial/Audio model and you want to do audio extension, also plug one end of the included 3.5-mm male-to-male stereo audio- extension cables into the Local Unit’s matching 3.5-mm female CPU-port audio “In” and “Out” connectors.

Finally, connect the other ends of the Extender’s KVM-extension cable (and any serial-extension or audio-extension cables) to the matching strands of the switch’s User Cable as shown in Figure 6-4 on the next page.
