Initial settings

2 Select the size using CURSOR 2/3.

•Large: Large speaker(s) which can fully reproduce the low-frequency range.

•Small: Small speaker(s) which can not fully reproduce the low-frequency range.

•None: No speaker(s) connected.

If you set the front speakers to “Small”, you cannot set the other speakers to “Large”.

2 Select the desired speaker(s) to be set using CURSOR 5/∞.

•F.SP: Front speakers. The level is fixed to 0dB.

•C.SP: Center speaker

•R.SP: Rear speakers

•S.WOOFER: Sub-woofer

The setting range is between –6dB and +6dB in 1dB steps.

1 Select [BASS] using CURSOR 5/∞.

2 Select [S.woofer] or [L/R] using CURSOR

2/3.

•S.woofer: The low-frequency signal fed from the sub-woofer output is boosted up.

•L/R: The low-frequency signals fed from the front speaker outputs are boosted up.

The “Bass redirect” setting is effective only when at least any one of the speaker sizes is set to “Small”. If none of them is set to “Small”, this setting is not activated (“None” appears in the setting field).

Please note that the “L/R” setting is effective only when playing back a Dolby Digital encoded DVD VIDEO disc. If the front speaker size is set to “Small”, the Bass redirect setting is fixed to “S.woofer”.

Speaker level

1 Select [LEVEL] using CURSOR 5/∞, then press ENTER.

The color of “LEVEL” changes.

3 Set the level using CURSOR 2/3.

•For the speaker(s) whose size is set to “None”, the Speaker level and Delay cannot be set (“—”appears in the setting field).

•However, when playing back a Dolby Digital disc, LFE signal is output from SUBWOOFER output even if

S. WOOFER shows “—”, allowing to activate a sub-woofer connected. In such case, adjust the output level using the level control on the sub-woofer.

Delay

(available only when selecting EXPERT)

1 Select [DELAY] using CURSOR 5/∞, then press ENTER.

The color of “DELAY” changes.

2 Select the desired speaker(s) to be set using CURSOR 5/∞.

•F.SP: Front speakers. The delay is fixed to 0mS.

•C.SP: Center speaker (selectable from 0 to –5mS in 1mS units)

•R.SP: Rear speakers (selectable from 0mS,

–5mS, –10mS, and –15mS)

3 Set the delay time using CURSOR 2/3.

•Delay of S.WOOFER cannot be set.

NOTE

•To exit the speaker level (or delay) setting mode

Move to [LEVEL] (or [DELAY]) in the on-screen display and press ENTER until [LEVEL] (or [DELAY]) returns to its original color.
