Setting the distance to the listening position

In a home entertainment system, the surround loudspeakers are usually posi- tioned closer to the viewer than the front loudspeakers. The sound is therefore electronically delayed by fractions of a second. This compensates for the time it takes the sound to travel.

You should therefore measure the distances from the central speaker and the surround speakers to the listener’s central position and enter them in the relevant menu. Enter the travel time of the sound in milliseconds (MS) (1 m corresponds to 3 MS). »OFF« is the default value.

1 Select »SPEAKER SETUP« with »￿« or »￿« and confirm with »DEMO/OK«.

2Select »CNTR DELAY« (for the central loudspeaker) with »￿« or »￿«.

3Switch to the right column with »￿« and use »￿« or »￿« to make the required setting.

»OFF« to »5MS«: off to 5 milliseconds.

4Switch back to the left column with »￿« and make the setting for »REAR DELAY«.

»OFF« to »15MS«: off to 15 milliseconds.

Testing the volume level of the individual channels with a test signal

A test signal can be created for each connected speaker to check the volume level. »OFF« is the default value.

1 Select »SPEAKER SETUP« with »￿« or »￿« and confirm with »DEMO/OK«.

2Select »TEST TONE« with »￿« or »￿«.

3Use »￿« to move to the right column.

»ON« and »OFF«.

4Use »￿« or »￿« to select »ON« and confirm with »DEMO/OK«.

The test signal can be heard briefly from loudspeaker to loudspeaker (sequence: front left, centre, front right, surround right, surround left, subwoofer).

5To end the test signal select »￿« or »￿« »OFF« and confirm with »DEMO/OK«.
