TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

If you have followed the instructions contained in this manual and have difficulty in operating your VCR, locate the SYMPTOM in the left column below. Check the corresponding POSSIBLE CAUSE and CORRECTIVE ACTION columns to remedy the problem.

SYMPTOM

No power.

Timer recording is not

possible.

Rec mode cannot be

engaged.

No picture or poor picture on playback.

No picture on TV.

Noise in picture on playback,

Playback picture is partially noisy,

On-the-air TV programs cannot be seen.

No operation by infrared Remote Control.

Operation buttons do not work after there is a power failure or you move your VCR.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

Power cord is not connected.

VCR POWER is off.

The timer recording is set incorrectly.

VCR clock is not set correctly.

The record safety tab on cassette is missing.

The TV channel selector is not set to the proper channel.

The TV fine tuning is not set correctly.

The VCR is in TV mode.

*Video heads are dirty.

The TRACKING control is not set correctly,

Connections are not correctly made.

Weak batteries.

Channel Memory Programming is proceeded because programmed channels are erased.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Connect power cord to AC outlet.

Press POWER button to turn on the VCR.

Set the timer recording correctly.

Set VCR clock correctly.

Place vinyl tape over missing safety tab.

On playback, set the TV to channel 3 or 4 for video output channel. Then, press TV/VCR button so that "VCR" appears on the display.

Fine tune your TV.

Press TV/VCR button.

Head cleaning is necessary, consult the nearest Sears Authorized Service Center.

Adjust TRACKING control for a better picture.

Re-check the ANT. IN and ANT. OUT connections.

Check the batteries in Infrared Remote Control.
