Automatic zoom

When the automatic zoom function is active, pro- grammes broadcast in "widescreen format" (such as those in the 16:9 format) are expanded to fill as much of the screen as possible.

If this function is inactive, the format of such pro- grammes is not adjusted automatically.

AV programme position

AV devices have one or more connection sockets, depending on the model. The designations of the- se sockets are marked on the device (e.g. AV1).

On the AV device, you can select which socket you want to use. The selected socket is shown on the display of the AV device (e.g. A1 for socket AV1).

Code

The settings for the childlock function are protec- ted by a four-digit code: you can enter any des- ired code, but you should note it for future use. If you have forgotten your code, please consult your local dealer.

Comb filter 2)

In conventional TV sets, the brightness signal is separated from the colour information with the aid of a frequency filter.

However, such a filter cannot prevent a certain amount of the brightness signal from being mixed with the colour signal, causing interference (so- called cross-luminance interference). Similarly a certain amount of the colour signal is mixed with the brightness signal (so-called cross-colour inter- ference). The comb filter does away with these shortcomings. Just like a comb, it extracts the colour signal (which is carried in the gaps of the brightness signal) without affecting the bandwidth of the brightness signal.
