Blocking Specific Content Themes

You can block programs based on their content. (Content is represented by the D, L, S, V, FV and TV-Y on your screen. See the beginning of this section for details.) When you block a content theme for a particular rating, you automatically block that content theme for higher rated programs as well.

For example, if you do not want your child to watch programs that have adult language (L) rated TV-PG or higher, then you could block out all programming TV-PG and above containing adult language.

To block program content:

1.Determine the lowest level of content you don’t want the child to watch.

2.Press MENU on the remote (the MENU appears).

3.Select TV SET-UP, then press ENTER.

4.Select V-CHIP SET, then press ENTER.

5.Enter your password, then press ENTER (the V-CHIP SET menu appears).

6.Select TV RATING. If you have selected a rating limit that contains content you can block, the screen displays Call to Set Contents.

7.Press CALL on the remote (the RATING SET screen appears).

8.Press the down arrow to select the content you want to block. Press ENTER to turn ON the content.

9.Press the MENU button until the MENU screen disappears.

Notes: Broadcasters are not required to provide content themes or age- based ratings. Programs received with no content themes will only be blocked if you block their age-based rating.

You must remember to turn on V-CHIP for rating limits to take effect.

V-Chip Movie Rating

You set movie rating limits by blocking movies rated above a specified level.

To access the MOVIE RATING menu:

1.Press MENU on the remote (the MENU appears).

2.Select TV SET-UP, then press ENTER.

3.Select V-CHIP SET, then press ENTER.

4.Enter your password, then press ENTER (the V-CHIP SET menu appears).

5.Select MOVIE RATING, then press ENTER.

6.Press the up or down arrow button to display the lowest rating you don’t want the child to watch. (In the example, you would want to select PG-13 since the highest rating you want the child to watch is PG).

7.Press ENTER to confirm the rating you have chosen.

8.Press the MENU button until the MENU screen disappears.
