MTS Broadcast Stereo System 55

Your TV/VCR can receive a program broadcast in stereo or with second audio (usually, that means a pro- gram is broadcast with a second language).

When the second audio is available, you can select either the main audio (Mono) or the second audio. But your TV/VCR can record only the sound you select. Select a sound by following the steps on page 56. NOTE: When a program is broadcast in stereo, the TV/VCR can record only in monaural (single-source) sound, regardless of your selection.

When you play back a tape, you will hear only the sound recorded on a tape, regardless of your sound selection.

Read the information on this page to familiarize yourself with your TV/VCR’s stereo and second audio setups. Then, follow the directions on page 56 to receive a program broadcast in stereo or second audio.

Understanding On-Screen Displays

The indication STEREO or SAP that appears on this side of the status display tells you if the program you’re watching is available in stereo or second audio. This indication is not available during tape playback.

When a program is not available in stereo or second audio, the indication MONO appears.

When a program is broadcast in second audio, SAP appears here. To watch or record in second audio, select SAP at step 3 on page 56.

When a program is broadcast in stereo, STEREO appears here. To watch in stereo, select STEREO at step 3 on page 56.

NOTE: When you record a program broadcast in stereo, the TV/VCR can record only in monaural sound, regardless of your selection.

When a program is available both in stereo and second audio, both STEREO and SAP appear here. If so, you may select STEREO, MONO, or SAP at step 3 on page 56.
