04Singing Your Favorite Songs Along with Karaoke Discs

(DV-510K/DV-210K only)

This player has a karaoke feature that lets you sing along with your favorite songs, featuring

(a)microphone(s) jack conveniently located on the front panel as well as controls for mixing the vocal level and amount of echo effect.

To use the karaoke function you must have this player connected to your TV or amplifier using the analog outputs. See also pages 10 and 12.

2Connect (a) microphone(s) (not supplied) to the MIC input jack.

The karaoke function is active whenever (a) microphone(s) is/are connected to the player. Make sure that the plug is inserted firmly and completely into the jack to use the karaoke function.

1Setting the volume and echo to the minimum.

To set the volume to the minimum, turn the VOLUME knob on the main unit's front panel counterclockwise.

To set the echo to the minimum, press the

KARAOKE button on the remote control, then within 5 seconds press the  (ECHO ) button. The setting decreases each time the button is pressed.

To avoid possible damage to your speakers, be sure to turn down the volume completely before preceeding to step 2.

3Load a disc with the music you want to use.

4Play the title, chapter or track and

adjust the volume of the audio playback.

For more information on loading a disc and playing back a title, chapter or track, refer to the section Playing discs on page 19.

Adjust the volume on the TV or component that audio connections are made to. VOLUME on the front panel controls only the level of the microphone(s).

5When the music starts, turn VOLUME clockwise while speaking or singing into the microphone to adjust the vocal volume to an appropriate level.

6Adjusting the echo.

Press the KARAOKE button on the remote control, then within 5 seconds use the /  (ECHO –/ECHO +) buttons to adjust the echo.

The amount of echo effect needed may differ for different styles of music and for different preferences.

7Adjusting the music to suit your voice.

Press the KARAOKE button on the remote control, then within 5 seconds use the / (KEY /KEY ) buttons to adjust the key.

Press KEY  (high) repeatedly to raise the pitch of the backing music.

Press KEY  (low) repeatedly to lower the pitch of the backing music.
