Using the Indexes to Search for a Sequence

Each time you record a cassette, an “index” is automatically marked on the tape when recording starts.

The Search function enables you to fast-forward or rewind to a specific index and start playback from that point. Depending on the direction selected, the indexes are numbered as follows:

This VCR unit uses a standard indexing system. As a result, it will recognize any indexes marked by other VCRs using the same system and vice versa.

1To search for a specific index, press INDEX.

2Enter the number of the index to be found using the numeric buttons.

When entering a single digit number, do not forget to precede it with a zero.

Example: 02.

Result: The index number is displayed.

3Select the direction in which the VCR unit is to search:

REW ( ) to search backwards FF ( ) to search forwards

Result: When the index is found, cassette playback starts.

Scanning the Index Markings

SCAN & PLAY

You can scan the various indexes on the cassette to find the beginning of the programme or sequence that you wish to watch.

1To scan through all indexes in a given direction, press:

INDEX to start the search

REW () or FF ( ) within six seconds to indicate the direction

Result: The SCAN & PLAY indication is displayed. When an index is found, the VCR unit:

Plays the sequence for five seconds

Scans for the next index until it reaches the beginning or end of the tape

2Press:

PLAY ( ) when the required sequence is reached or

STOP ( ) to stop the scan
