tone. This scheme would be further enhanced by selecting the TUBE RECTIFIER: TRACKING setting on the Rear Panel RECTIFIER SELECT switch.

Or, you might want the opposite and set Channel 1 to 50 watts of sparkling, yet forgiving clean performance and go for the bold auth- ority of 100 watt power for Channel 2 set to a soaring high gain voice using the DRIVE circuitry.

Whatever scheme you choose to use, the ability to select the power rating of each channel adds incredible expression power to the

LONE STAR

NOTE: The RECTIFIER SWITCH (Rear Panel) has a built in RECTIFIER TRACKING feature that ensures proper matching for each power setting. In 50W, either a TUBE RECTIFIER or a silicon DIODE may be chosen as the rectifi cation element with the Tube offering the most give and elasticity. In the 100W setting, DIODE rectifi ers are automatically brought on line and this is a proper match which provides the reliable and powerful headroom of a 4x6L6 output section.

NOTE: At some point in your experimentation with the Channel Power Select switches, try setting one or both of the Channels to 50W and moving the Speaker Load to the 4 Ohm jack. This produces a brighter, snappier response that is great for certain applica- tions, especially clean sounds. There is no right way, but the difference in response is defi nitely worth investigating for both clean and overdriven sounds.

OUTPUT & SOLO CONTROLS: OUTPUT: This control determines the overall output volume level of the amplifi er. After the

GAIN controls have been set for the desired sound style and the two channels levels have been balanced with the channel MASTER controls, the OUTPUT control allows you to change the playing level by adjusting a single

control. The OUTPUT control is also wired as the Effects Loop Return Level control.

NOTE: To use the LONE STAR amplifi er as a power amp - use the EFFECTS RE- TURN as an input. The SOLO control can be used to attain a footswitchable boost if the Footswitch is connected. It is wired in parallel to the OUTPUT control and therefore also

NOTE: The Effects Loop RETURN jack can serve as a power amp input so that you may use the LONE STAR amplifi er as a power amp for either stereo reproduction or to incorporate additional pre-amps. Here are a few things to remember that will help you when interfacing to the LONE STAR for use as a power amp only;

1.) Connect “Dummy” plug or loose cable to SEND jack. ( This prevents any possible loading that could result in diminished RETURN sensitivity.)

2.) The OUTPUT Level will be the only active control on the Front Panel (the PRESENCE control of Channel 1 will be active only when that channel is engaged - see #3 )

3.) The SOLO control may be used to footswitch to a pre-determined amount of boost when the footswitch is connected.

NOTE: Therefore, we recommend selecting Channel 1 when you wish to use the LONE STAR as a power amp.

LoneStar Amplifier specifications

The Mesa/Boogie LoneStar Amplifier is a standout choice for guitarists seeking a high-quality, versatile tube amplifier that excels in both clean and overdriven tones. Designed for performers who require reliability and tonal variety, the LoneStar is a blend of vintage warmth and modern performance, making it ideal for various musical genres, from blues to rock to country.

One of the main features of the LoneStar is its dual-channel configuration, allowing players to toggle between pristine clean tones and rich, dynamic overdrives. Each channel offers independent tone controls, including bass, mid, treble, and presence, enabling precise sound shaping. The amplifier also includes a unique "Boost" feature on the overdrive channel, which provides an additional gain stage for solos or dynamic passages.

The LoneStar is powered by a quartet of EL84 power tubes, which deliver a sweet, harmonically rich output. This choice of tubes contributes to the amp's tonal character; the EL84s are known for their smooth breakup and dynamic response. Additionally, the amplifier can operate in either 30-watt or 15-watt modes, offering flexibility for both stage and studio environments.

A hallmark characteristic of the LoneStar is its use of the "CabClone" technology, which gives players the ability to silently record or practice by sending a speaker-emulated signal directly to a mixing console or recording interface. This innovation means you can achieve high-quality recordings without the need for a mic'd cabinet.

The amplifier also features a rugged design, with a sturdy chassis and durable tolex covering, ensuring it withstands the rigors of touring. Its aesthetic appeal, paired with its functional controls and footswitch capabilities, makes it a favorite among professional musicians.

With its distinctive tone, versatility, and advanced features, the Mesa/Boogie LoneStar Amplifier has established itself as a modern classic in the amplification world. Whether you are seeking lush clean sounds, soaring leads, or earthy mid-range overdrive, the LoneStar provides all the tools you need to shape your signature sound effectively. For players who appreciate quality craftsmanship and performance, this amplifier is an investment that pays dividends in tonal richness and reliability.
