AE LOCK FUNCTION
The AE Lock function enables an exposure level lock before picture is taken.
If the subject is too small for a proper exposure setting to be obtained, you can zoom in on the subject to obtain the proper exposure setting. Then lock the exposure setting and recompose shot before taking a picture.
To use the AE Lock:

Position the area to be measured in the viewfinder metering area and press the
AE lock button 
. To cancel the AE lock, press the AE lock button again.
is displayed in the viewfinder. The measured exposure level is locked for 20 seconds.
Recompose the image in the viewfinder and take the picture.
✍MEMO
•If the shutter release button is depressed halfway down while the AE lock timer is operating, the memorized meter reading will remain even if the AE lock button is released.
•The
•AE lock does not work in the Metered Manual Mode and Bulb timer Mode.
