For the most accurate heart rate reading, continue to hold the handgrip pulse sensor for about 15 seconds. Note: When you first hold the handgrip pulse sensor, the console will display your heart rate continuously for 15 seconds. The console will then display your heart rate along with your ped- aling pace and your pedaling speed.

When you are finished exercising, the console

6 will automatically turn off.

If you stop pedaling for a few seconds, the con- sole will pause and the time will begin to flash in the display.

If the pedals are not moved and the console but- tons are not pressed for a few minutes, the con- sole will automatically turn off to conserve the bat- teries.

HOW TO USE A RESISTANCE PROGRAM

1 Turn on the console.

See step 1 on page 11.

2 Select a resistance program.

To select a resistance pro- gram, press the Resistance Program button repeatedly until “P1,” “P2,” “P3,” or “P4” appears in the display.

The diagrams numbered 1 through 4 on the right side of the console show how the resistance level will change during the resistance programs. For example, diagram number 3 shows that when program 3 is selected, the resistance will gradual- ly increase throughout the program, and then decrease near the end.

3 Begin pedaling to start the program.

To start the program, simply begin pedaling. Each resistance program consists of 30 one-minute periods. One resistance setting is programmed for each period. Note: The same resistance setting may be programmed for two or more consecutive periods.

At the end of each one-minute period, the time will flash in the display, and the resistance of the pedals will automatically change if a different resistance setting is programmed for the next period. Note: If the resistance level is too high or too low, you can change it by pressing the Resistance increase or decrease button. However, when the current period ends, the resis- tance level will automatically change if a different resistance setting is programmed for the next period.

The console will

display the time remaining in the program. Note: If you continue pedaling after the program is com-

pleted, the dis-

play will continue to show your exercise feedback.

4 Follow your progress with the display.

See step 4 on page 11.

5 Measure your heart rate if desired.

See step 5 on page 11.

When you are finished exercising, the console

6 will automatically turn off.

See step 6 on page 11.
